ANDONG ONE DAY TRIP

During the third fam tour with WOWKOREA, we had the opportunities to explore two cities which are Andong in North Gyeongsang province and Daegu Metropolitan City.
HOW TO GO
We took KTX from Cheongnyangni station in Seoul heading to Andong. It only takes about two hours, and the fare was 25,100 won. Alternatively, we also can take express bus from Seoul Express Bus Terminal which only cost about 17,000 won.
WHERE TO GO
Hahoe Folk Village
Hahoe Folk Village was listed in UNESCO World Heritage in the year 2010. The village display many cultural heritages which show Korean traditional living cultures and ancient architectural styles.
Hahoe (Ha means a river and Hoe means turning around). It was that the Nakdong River flows around the village in an S shape. This topological map makes the village a very good residence, so it has been known as a good place to live in since the time of the Joseon Dynasty.
Buyongdae Cliff
The best way to enjoy the bird-eye view of the village is by hiking to Buyongdae cliff. I was not a hiking person; it took me about 20 minutes to reach the peak. Most of my friends reach even earlier than that.
++ Plus, point during autumn, you can see the colorful autumn leaves, the calm overflowing Nakdong river and beautiful sunset too.
Woryeonggyo Bridge
This bridge was designed in a Mituri style (Korean traditional hemp shoes) to commemorate a pure love. It reflects the tragic and heartfelt story of a wife who made a shoe for her husband using her hair.
WOWKOREA supporters had a chance to stroll along bridge and cruising on the river by taking a night cruise. Although it was slightly windy and cold, we enjoyed it very much.
WHAT TO EAT
Andong Jjimdak Street
So, mentioning about Andong, what is the first thing come across our head? Obviously the well-known Andong Jjimdak. Jjimdak is a dish that is originated from Andong. It is a braised chicken marinated in sweet soy sauce.
Jjimdak is popular throughout the whole country. We usually topped the dish with cheese and add different condiments or topping makes it very versatile and fun to eat. Not only that, but there is also different level of spiciness we can choose according to our satisfaction.
Dinner at Heotjaesabap
Before ending our night tour in Andong, we had our dinner. It was at one of the restaurants that serves famous local dish called Haetsabab. We had rice with various type of vegetables mixed and eat it together with different types of fish.
The main dish, fried mackerel was stealing the spotlight. It was very tasty and melts in your mouth. Not only that, but we also tried shark meat and Korea Skate fish.
