This is the second post of my Namhae trip and this time it is all about exciting activities, what to do, where to go and what to eat. Part one will covers seven interesting places to visit. Part two is continued with local shops tour; local restaurants, unique cafes and souvenir shops! . Starting from cute souvenir stores, local concept cafes and restaurants in Namhae that also can be considered for Muslim tourists. Let's start!~

#1 Skywalking at Namhae Bomeulseom Jeonmangdae

Experience thrilling sensation while walking between the sky and the ocean at Bomulseom Jeonmangdae. If you are a person who loves challenges, then this is the right place for you. Although it is newly built attraction in Namhae yet with the wide, shallow indigo-turquoise ocean and cloudless blue sky, this place is already transforming into hot destination among the youth. In addition, this activity was once popular among fans of the Running Man reality TV show when they were running a recording at Macau Tower.

Many are wondering whether this activity was expensive. The answer is not at all! The admission fees is categorized as super cheap compared to any other outdoor sports in Korea. The cost, details of this place and few tips are below! At the first floor there is local snacks and souvenir store, second floor features cafe and waiting line for Skywalk. If you have chances, do try their Yuja (Citrus) Bread and Yuja Ice cream!

**Tips : If you have height fright, instead of Skywalking you can head to their rooftop or you can walk down to the shore using the boardwalk provided.

Fees: Skywalk 5,000 won (Skywalk + Shoe rental) // Cafe: Yuja Ice cream 5,000 won

Address : 1048-3 Mulgeon-ri, Samdong-myeon, Namhae-gun, Gyeongsamnamdo (경상남도 남해군 삼동면 물건리 1048-3)

#2 Giant Swing at Seolri Skywalk

This is another recent attraction gaining its fame among the local tourists and just completed the construction last year. Interestingly there is giant swings swinging across the blue ocean. Along with the adequately mesmerizing scenery in Namhae, many local tourists come to take pictures and collecting their memories here.

Recently, the Skywalk has also been the location of the popular Korean drama "True beauty" starring idol-actor Cha Eun Woo. This tends to make this place gain more widespread popularity. The skywalk is similar as other places but some picture zones and the giant swings makes it the biggest plus point distinguished it from other skywalk the country has to offer.

From The Korea Magazine, the Seolri Skywalk has a length of 79.4 m, a width of 4.5 m, and a height of 36.3 m while its 43-meter cantilevers are the longest such structures in the country. The width of one Skywalk glass plate is also the widest in the country at 12 mm, which are bonded in triple to add more safety to the structure.

To anyone who wondering, there are conditions for riding those swings. First, height must be above 140 cm and bodyweight must not exceed 90 kg. Besides that, if you're wearing skirts, you might need to change to provided suit. *Because there are only two suits, most people using the same suits. I concern it might not be the best idea especially during this pandemic time. So I advised to wear pants :)

***Tips : The waiting line for swings can be more than 30 minutes during weekdays. Certainly, on the weekend, expect it to be longer, So after buying ticket immediately take elevator to the cafe to register your turn. Then, enjoy walking around, take pictures. Once it is your turn, the system will send message and staff will called your number.

Fees : Skywalk only 2,000 won or package Skywalk + Swing 6,000 won

This mountain offers classic panoramic view of the Hallyeohaesang National Park; cluster of islands on the South Sea. And this is top must-see scenic spots in Korea. To get to Boriam, it takes 15-20 minutes hike (proper walking path) from the ticket office.

Boriam Hermitage is known as one of the most prestigious prayer spots in Korea. This temple holds such significant and long history where King Taejo who founded the Joseon Dynasty came and performed ritual prayers here. Not only that, King Taejo also said to stay at the temple for hundred days to find wisdom and gaining good fortune in order to establish new kingdom; The Joseon.

The village has been promoting green agricultural tourism since 2005. The stream flowing through the village has high-quality water and is home to sweetfish, mitten crab, and freshwater eel. Visitors to the village can enjoy both farming and marine experiences, making it a popular destination for families.

Recently, on social media, many Korean travelers came to this village and taking pictures with some rare flower! It is called Elephant Garlic's flower. It is tall, round, purple in color. From local people in the village, the taste of elephant garlic is milder than regular garlic. So, it is perfect to eat raw with salad.

Above are seven must go destinations if you come to Namhae in future. Namhae is probably located outside the city and takes a long time if one wants to come. However, this small town has its own uniqueness, magnetic power and charms.

Now let's start with local shops tour!

#1 Aenggang Market

This modern concept of market features not only various Namhae local produce but also home to the most delicate modern traditional looking dessert and tea cafe as well.

Wide variety of Namhae local produce is presented in a slightly better packaging. Such as organic tea, blended tea, healthy grains, and other produce like dried seaweed and anchovies. I was pretty sad because I arrived a little early and missed the chance to had tea here.

#2 Namhae 100 Years Yuja (Baeknyeon Yuja)

Coming to Namhae is not complete without trying their organic produce; Namhae Yuja. To anyone who wondering, Yuja is a fruit which is the hybrid of mandarin oranges. So it taste tangy and citrusy. Yuja raised in Namhae holds a great quality where it is said to be excellent in both taste and flavor.

Namhae and Yuja are like a perfect combo. So if you’re planning to get some fresh Yuja or even grapefruit as gifts, the head to this place! This year they finish remodeling the former building, and just open the new building with modern and white concepts a few weeks ago! A lot of photo spots too 😘

#3 Dolchanggo Project

This place exist to celebrate cultural and art activities in Namhae. For some reason living in countryside is synonym with elderly people, but there are also young people who want to live in the small town countryside. Thus, Dolchanggo Project act as a bridge that provides cultural and art infrastructure in South Sea that connects younger generation or people who have big interest in it.

I can't suggest this place enough. Y’all this is a must-go place okay! Very neat and tidy artistic space. Do not miss the chance to tour around the exhibition hall. At the cafe, must try their signature Misutgaru drinks 어머니 미숫가루. Misutgaru is regarded as a healthy drinks because of its protein content, fiber, calcium, and vitamins and minerals.

#4 B급 Sangjeom

Local souvenir stores that sell Namhae customized merchandise. It is located in a hilly local houses area. It takes probably a bit less than 5 mins from the main road. Here, you can get multiple design of shirts, eco bag, goods like notebook, pins and postcards. Besides that, there are also handkerchief, muffler and hats. I personally love their big card which to me seems to me like a LP cover.

At first I was questioned why it was located at such a hideous and quiet area. Isn't it gives minus point to their business. Not until I realized, that must be their charms. Where, people like me who travel for almost 350 km away yet still want to come visit and find the store.

WHAT TO EAT IN NAMHAE

#1 Sondo Jukbang Jangeo 손도죽방장어

Namhae has its special method to catch the anchovies and they retains the same traditional method until now for more than 500 years. The method is called jukbangnyeom where style of fishing using bamboo weirs. Anchovies that have been caught using this method are claimed to be tastier because the flesh are firm as they swim opposite the waves direction. These anchovies are special food in Namhae and sold at such higher prices.

Because I was so curious, how tasty the anchovies are, I decided to try Namhae special dish called Myeolchi Ssambap or Anchovies and Rice Korean lettuce wraps. I honestly was speechless and hundred percent agree why it is famous. Because it is very delicious. I love it so much. Okay I'm drolling while typing! Anyway I'm still an amazed balls, it was my first time seeing that size of anchovies haha

#2 Dongcheon Restaurant

Second dish is Seafood Hot Pot. I guess if you're traveling in any coastal city in Korea, this is a must-go menu. Look at how loaded that seafood was. I can find all type of seafood; from my favorite abalone, crab, clams, oysters, octopus, oh my gosh all goodness are in there haha. For Malaysian taste palette it can be bland. But, there are soy sauce and wasabi provided to dip in. Also, variety of side dishes with few types of Kimchi comes together with the dish. Overall I'm satisfied.
