After collecting all memories in Andong, we moved to Daegu. The journey to Daegu takes for about 1.5 hours by car. Then, we checked in to Interburgo Exco hotel in Daegu and rest for the night. Daegu is one of the biggest city in Korea. Thus, Daegu really has a lot to offer! Let's see what to do, where to go, where to stay and what is the highlight during trip to Daegu!

ATTRACTIONS IN DAEGU

Apsan Cable Car and Observatory Deck

The last destination we visited in Daegu is Apsan cable car and Apsan observatory deck. The cable car at Mount Apsan was installed a long time ago for visitors to enjoy riding up and down. Also, to see the beautiful natural scenery and Daegu city from above.

Return trip for the cable car is 10,500 for adults. First trip departs at 10.30 am and the last trip at 6.30 pm on weekdays 8.30 pm on the weekend. The observatory decks up at the peak was rather interesting. There is a café where you can have coffee and enjoy the wide view of yellow shade mountains during autumn.

Daegu Modern History Street

During Korean War, Daegu suffered less damage compared to other regions. Thus, a lot of important venues remain until now. We did a walking tour through every alley deep down Daegu Modern History Street and it was jam packed with information and very meaningful.

The tour starts from Cheongna Hill, where the missionary houses and new Jeil Church are located. After few meters, we walk passing March 1st Independence Movement Road. Such a symbolic and historical place! We took picture together here as memory.

Next, by crossing the road, there is Gyesan Cathedral. Most of us know this building from the famous drama The King: Eternal Monarch played by the most charming Actor Lee Minho. This is a catholic church that carry historical values which is the beginning of Catholicism in the region.

The tour does not stop here, we continued walking until The Old House of Nationalist Poet, Lee Sang Hwa, House of Nationalist Lee Sang Don, Mulberry Street until Museum of Oriental Medicine.

Spa Valley

Spa Valley is a healing resort in Daegu consists of a Nature Park, a Waterpark, and a hotel in one place. Nature Park offers multiple gardens with colorful flora and an eco-zoo. We can feed the animal with the given food basket and take pictures along this open every day and all-day ticket cost 18,000 won for adults and 16,000 for kids.

At the moment, the waterpark is temporarily closed until further notice. Just to inform, there are indoor and outdoor water park provided and it used to open all year round. The Park offers a variety of attractions including hot spring water, indoor steam room, and herbal bath pool!

Ttang Ttang chicken land

Every year Daegu is the host for Chimac Festival in Korea. Chimac is a combine words for Fried Chicken and Maekju (Beer).

Korean fried chicken is tasty and crispy reflecting frying technique that render out the fat in the skin, transforming it into a thin crust. In Daegu, we tried out by ourselves the process behind the perfectly crispy and tasty fried chicken! It was very informative and funny too. Such a great experience.

Daegu Oriental Medicine Experience Facility

Situated right next to the Museum, we arrive here for some oriental treatment experience. Unlike the traditional techniques, everything here is technological oriented.

After long walking, it was just perfect for a foot massage. Interestingly, the machine produces electrical stimulation which functions to relax our muscle at the feet area. It was really a new experience.

Other supporters were trying acupuncture bed and manicure and it looks fun as well. This experience facility building have few floors incorporates not only massage and k-beauty but also other facilities such as face and palm analysis, stress reader, body posture and eye health level.

THE HIGHLIGHT

Daegu Stadium for 2021 SBS Super Concert

Here comes the highlight of the trip, the K-Pop concert! It was the first offline K-Pop concert held since COVID-19 outbreak. We were very lucky to be chosen as audience and see the artists performing live.

Although with strict regulation; for instance, audience were prohibited from shouting or do fan chanting, recording from neither handphone nor camera were not allowed as well.

It was a little frustrated since we had to refrain ourselves from enjoy it wholeheartedly. Yet, it was understandable since we are moving to “with corona” phase and pray that one day we can return to normal anytime sooner. After the concert, we were transferring to another healing hotel in Spa Valley Daegu.

WHERE TO STAY

Interburgo Exco hotel

This is a 4-star hotel located in downtown Daegu. I love how the room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet also was variety and they have wide space enough to accommodate big group comfortably.

Hotel The Foret

We checked-in to Hanok style room. Room was spacious complete with balcony. The room that I had was relatively clean. Breakfast was served to the room. Nothing much just a light breakfast box. Woke up and alking around the hotel at the morning was peaceful. With the colorful leaves has changing color, it was such eye pleasing. It was our last day in Daegu, the schedule was somehow not too packed. We started off the day with leisurely walking around Nature Park at Spa Valley.

RETURNING BACK TO SEOUL

KTX Dongdaegu Station to Seoul Station

After having ample time at the Apsan observatory, we return to the ticket area and transferred to Dongdaegu KTX Station. We were leaving to Seoul via KTX and arrived at Seoul station nearly 5.10 PM.

Overall trip was very fascinating and fun. Traveling during fall season is truly my favorite and get to share the moments together with the WOWKOREA family was rather special. Till next post. Thank you for reading.
